Additional market supplement may be considered for this role depending upon experience and qualifications up to £5000

39 hours per week (reduce to 37 hours per week from 1st August 2026 with no change in salary)

At The Isle of Wight College, we are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Aerospace Tutor and Skills Coach to join our forward thinking team. As an Aerospace Tutor and Skills Coach, you will:

• Deliver engaging classroom and workshop-based teaching that develops apprentices’ technical knowledge and practical aerospace engineering skills.

• Assess and evaluate learner competence through observations, practical skills assessments, and review of portfolio evidence to ensure progress against apprenticeship standards.

• Plan, deliver, and adapt high-quality learning and assessment activities aligned to industry standards and curriculum requirements

• Provide tailored coaching and guidance to support learners throughout their apprenticeship journey.

• Assess learner competence through observations, skills assessments, and portfolio evidence.

• Create high quality learning materials and practical tasks aligned to industry standards and curriculum requirements.

• Track, record, and report on learner progress, ensuring timely completion and achievement of milestones.

• Work collaboratively with employers to ensure learners gain meaningful workplace experience aligned to programme objectives.

• Support learners to develop essential skills in English, maths, health & safety, technical understanding, and professional behaviours.

• Maintain high standards of quality assurance through active participation in standardisation, moderation, and team meetings.

• Promote a positive learning environment that reflects real world aerospace processes, tooling, and safe systems of work.

• Contribute to continuous improvement within the department through CPD, innovation, and reflective practice.

What You Will Need

• Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths

• A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline related subject (or equivalent)

• A teaching qualification or willingness to achieve one 

• Ability to manage workload and stay organised in a busy, dynamic environment

•  Ability to effectively plan, deliver, and assess learning, managing workload and maintaining organisation in a busy, dynamic environment
