Volunteer Caretaker / Handyperson
Do you enjoy DIY and have a few hours to spare each week? The Isle of Wight Youth Trust is looking for a practical, reliable volunteer to help keep our sites safe, welcoming and well maintained for the children and young people we support.
You'll turn your hand to a variety of jobs, including:
- Painting and decorating
- General DIY, repairs and odd jobs
- Minor electrical and plumbing fixes
- Liaising with contractors for larger or specialist work
You'll be confident in your practical skills and comfortable working independently, able to assess a job, decide the best approach, and know when something needs a professional. Experience in a trade or a strong track record of hands-on DIY would be ideal.
We're looking for around 4 hours per week, in one or two blocks. Because our buildings are used for client sessions during the day, we'll agree times that work around these. Earlier mornings or later afternoons may suit best, but there's flexibility to find an arrangement that works for you.
In return, you'll have the satisfaction of directly supporting a local charity that champions the emotional wellbeing and mental health of Island children and young people aged 5–25, and reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with our volunteer expenses policy.
This role is subject to an informal interview, two references and a DBS check, in line with our safer recruitment practices.
