Test Engineer

Vectawave Technology Ltd are designers and manufacturers of Solid State RF and Microwave Amplifiers. We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Test Engineer, at our site in Newport, Isle of Wight.

This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis in return for a competitive salary.

For this role you will need demonstrable experience as a Test Engineer within an RF/electrical/electronic manufacturing environment. This is a hands on role which will require you to work on a mixture of RF and Microwave products from sub-assemblies, modules, amplifiers and systems. You will be responsible for ensuring our products and systems are tested in accordance with approved procedures and documentation, within schedules and to quality standards.

Reporting to the Test Manager, the role will involve:

  • Recording and maintaining test result integrity by serial number, validating the test records by checking any formal release, documenting test variations and non-conformance
  • Diagnosing faults, repairing to component level, modifying and upgrading modules, sub-assemblies and complete systems
  • Ensure that any test problems are analysed and permanent solutions put in place, in consultation with the Test Manager.
  • Work with the Test Manager to ensure workload is prioritised to meet Customer delivery requirements
  • Working with the Repair team to ensure turn-around times are met
  • Following equipment and personnel safety requirements applicable to the product under test (e.g. test equipment suitability, anti-static precautions)
  • Ensuring all test equipment used is of sufficient standard and calibrated, reporting and recording deviations
  • Creation/development of test methods and other documentation
  • Carry out other production test tasks as instructed by the Test Manager

As an RF Test Engineer, you should have:

  • HND/HNC in Electronic Engineering or equivalent

·         The ability to work in a production test environment, utilising assembly, P.C.B soldering skills and have a good working knowledge of current common microwave test equipment

·         The ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics

·         Understanding of all common types of Test Strategy

·         An excellent attention to detail and accuracy

·         Effective communications skills both written and verbal

  • Have proven problem-solving methodologies
  • Computer literate with good IT skills, particularly using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Automated Test Systems or similar would be desirable but not essential
