With summer season fast approaching The Terrace is getting busier and we have two positions to hire for. These roles can be combined or seperated depending on the applicant, their abilities and interests.

We are seeking a Kitchen Porter to support our chefs and front of house teams by consistently delivering sparkling crockery and cutlery, and keeping our pans and kitchen equipment full stocked and in good working order. The role has two elements - keeping the back of house areas of the restaurant clean during non-service times, and during service washing, drying and replenishing the bowls, plates, cups and cutlery used by diners.

We can offer flexible hours as we have a three-shift pattern across the day and because we serve no more than 80 guests a service, all staggered across three hours, the pace of the role is really managable. We're happy to employ an experienced KP or someone who has a good attitude and attention to detail. The most critical qualities, though, are reliability and the ability to communicate with colleagues.

We are also looking for a junior prep chef. Over four months you'll learn loads about food preperation from breads, to stocks, to fish and meat, to picking and chopping herbs, preparting all sort of different potato dishes, blanching vegetables, and even making sauces. This role can be 9-5p or it can be split shifts if you want more hours

You'll be shown tasks carefully by our chefs and asked to complete them, eventually graduating to creating a schedule of jobs you complete daily and managing them yourself. This role doesn't need kitchen experience - if you have some it's great but more importantly you need to be good at listening, good at asking questions, be capable of working quickly, have some interest in cooking, and be 100% reliable and committed.

We split all tips equally at The Terrace. They currently work out to about £4ph for every team member which is why we can give you a very good equivalent hourly rate. The role would suit someone looking for summer work or a KP looking to step up into cheffing in a supportive workplace.

Positions can be part or full time, and there is an opportunity to become a salaried team member from October for the right person if they want a longer term role as a chef or as manager of our cleaning and maintenance.
