The Royal Hotel in Ventnor is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Pastry Chef to join our talented kitchen team.
The Royal is one of the Isle of Wight’s leading 4 Silver Star hotels, with a long-standing reputation for exceptional food and hospitality. Our kitchen celebrates modern cooking with varied influences, making the most of seasonal ingredients and some of the fantastic produce available here on the Island.
We are looking for a Pastry Chef who has a genuine passion for creating imaginative, beautifully presented desserts and pastries.
About the role
As Pastry Chef, you will work alongside our Head Pastry Chef and wider kitchen team, helping to prepare and deliver desserts, pastries and Afternoon Tea offerings to The Royal’s high standards.
The role offers plenty of opportunity to develop your skills, contribute ideas and be involved in creating new seasonal pastry and Afternoon Tea offerings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the preparation and presentation of desserts and pastry items
- Preparing items for our Afternoon Tea offering
- Helping to develop new pastry dishes and seasonal Afternoon Tea creations
- Maintaining consistently high standards of presentation and quality
- Overseeing the pastry section when the Head Pastry Chef is off duty
- Monitoring ingredients and stock levels
- Maintaining quality control of ingredients, equipment and finished products
- Keeping the pastry section clean, organised and sanitised
- Ensuring food hygiene and Health & Safety standards are maintained at all times
The ideal candidate will have:
- A genuine passion for pastry and desserts
- Creativity and an eye for presentation
- Good attention to detail
- A positive and professional approach
- The ability to work well as part of a busy kitchen team
- Good organisation and time-management skills
- A willingness to learn, develop and broaden their existing skills
- An understanding of food hygiene and kitchen standards
Previous experience within a professional pastry or kitchen environment would be beneficial.
