This is a fantastic opportunity and to succeed in this position you will need to be an enthusiastic and self-motivated team player committed to delivering advice, inspections and enforcement to a high standard.

We are looking for an Enforcement Officer who will primarily deal with Animal Health & Welfare in connection with the farming community and Feed law related matters. You will also have the opportunity to work with other colleagues in the Trading Standards team on the wide remit that the service covers. Primarily you will be responsible for the enforcement of Animal Health and Welfare legislation relating to the keeping of farmed livestock which includes livestock identification, transportation, keeping movement records, feeding, disposal of fallen stock, general welfare and the control of animal diseases. This will include routine inspections, dealing with complaints and investigations progressing to court if necessary. In addition, you will be responsible for enforcing Feed legislation by delivering business advice and carrying out inspections at business premises.

You will be a fully qualified Trading Standards Enforcement Officer holding the current Chartered Trading Standards Institute qualifications in Animal Health and Feed or the relevant antecedents:

  • Trading Standards Enforcement Officer (Animal Health & Feed)
    Grade 9, £33,367.00 to £36,325.00 per annum

If you don’t hold the qualifications we require, we will consider applications to embark on our career grade to commence your career with us where you will be fully supported through the relevant qualifications:

  • Trainee Trading Standards Enforcement Officer
    Grade 7, £27,711.00 to £29,093.00 per annum 
  • Technical Trading Standards Enforcement Officer 
    Grade 8, £29,884.00 to £32,654 per annum

Effective communication skills with the ability to build rapport and relationships will be essential to talk with a wide range of consumers, businesses, colleagues and other agencies. Previous enforcement experience and/or transferrable skills that you can bring to us would be advantageous.

We operate flexible working arrangements where agile working is encouraged and supported which includes some working from home. A full driving licence and use of a car is essential.
