Being an island the way we manage water and flood risk is crucial, and we are looking for a confident and professional person to fill this post to support the Council’s duties as a Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) and Local Planning Authority (LPA). This post is funded by Southern Water as part of the ongoing pathfinder project on the Isle of Wight.
You will provide advice to a wide range of people including other council departments, elected members, outside agencies, developers/applicants, and the public on matters related to surface water drainage and flood risk. The role will also involve assisting Planning, Building Control and Enforcement colleagues in relation to assisting with SuDS approval, ensuring h3 of the Building Regulations is considered in development and helping to investigate breaches of planning and land drainage legislation. Checking that private surface water drainage systems are maintained will also be a key element of the role.
You will be a key team member within an authority that strives for positive outcomes to build a brighter future for the Island.
