As a Coroner’s Officer you play a crucial role in supporting HM Senior Coroner during her investigation process for deaths that fall under the jurisdiction of s.1 of the Coroners and Justice Act (2009). This position is both intellectually stimulating and emotionally rewarding as you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to ensuring clarity, compassion, and professionalism during sensitive times.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include liaising with the next-of-kin and other relevant stakeholders; assisting in the management of investigations; and ensuring that all information is strict confidence and in a sensitive manner.

We are looking for someone who is not only detail-oriented and organised but also possesses strong communication skills to provide information effectively to family members and other stakeholders involved. The role will be 37 hours a week and the successful candidate will be office-based. The current working hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 4.30pm and Friday 8.30am to 4.00pm, but there may be exceptional circumstances where Coroner’s Officers are required to work outside those hours.
