Community Welfare Officer

Full time – 35 Hours per week

Salary - £28,500

We are a small, independently run housing association operating exclusively on the Isle of Wight and are currently looking for a committed and enthusiastic person to join our team as a full time Community Welfare Officer.  You will be supporting our residents to maximise their income, providing information, advice, and guidance as well as sign posting to external agencies.

You will also be supporting and encouraging our tenants to engage in a wide range of activities developed internally or externally.  Helping tenants to reduce their isolation, increase their education, employment and training opportunities, managing their finances, emotional and physical well-being.

To succeed in this role candidates must be self-motivated, highly organised and demonstrate a high level of empathy and customer service when addressing a variety of issues and working with a range of partners.

To be considered for this role candidates must have minimum of A-C GCSEs in Maths and English or equivalent.  Have extensive experience in supporting people within the community (paid or voluntary basis).  Candidates should ideally have experience in developing and implementing programmes, workshops, and events within the community or something similar; some experience in seeking funding opportunities either in a paid or on a voluntary basis and experience of working effectively with a wide range of people, agencies, and organisations would also be positive. 

You must have excellent communication skills, a can-do approach, be able to think outside the box and a willingness to go the extra mile.  You will need to demonstrate initiative, resilience and flexibility as well as being committed to ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

You will be required to travel for this role and access to a car and a Full UK Driver’s License is essential, as well as being able to attend evening and weekend meetings. A Basic DBS Check will be undertaken for successful candidates.
