We’re recruiting a highly motivated Support Service Manager to join our friendly and professional team. This is a new role to join our existing staff team under the leadership of the Town Clerk.
The support service manager would be responsible for the development of a new pilot support service in Ryde, assisting residents to access information, assistance and benefits online ensuring they can continue to access to services independently going forward.
The successful candidate should have a commitment to the values of the Town Council and want to play an integral part in developing a successful future for Ryde and its residents.
The purpose of the job is to establish and operate an information and support service in Ryde Library (RISS). Its purpose is to extend and support existing information, advice and support services in the Library by assisting residents to access available information and undertake tasks such as benefit applications. Emphasis will be put on assisting them to access information and services via the internet.
It is a pilot project, designed to establish the need for this type of support and determine the best way of providing and funding it. Ryde Town Council has agreed to fund two positions, that of a Manager and an Information Assistant, for an initial one-year period. If during this period the need is established, and the general approach proves appropriate, alternative funding will be sought. It is also that the lessons learned could be relevant to other parts of the Island.
