Household Support Officer – Sandown
£32,000 per annum | 37 hours per week | Fixed-term for 3 years
An exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the residents of Sandown
Community Action Isle of Wight is looking for an approachable, motivated and compassionate Household Support Officer to join an exciting three-year project funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
The role will support individuals and families in Sandown on low to moderate incomes who are feeling the pressure of rising living costs. The focus is on early intervention, providing practical support before temporary difficulties escalate into crisis.
About the role
Working within the Sandown community, you will provide friendly, practical and non-judgemental support to help residents identify realistic next steps, build confidence and access the right help.
The role will include:
- Providing short-term support to individuals and families.
- Delivering welcoming weekly drop-in sessions in Sandown.
- Coordinating practical information, training and skills sessions on topics such as household budgeting, getting ready for work and coping strategies.
- Providing information, signposting and referrals to specialist services when needed.
- Working closely with voluntary, community and statutory organisations.
- Helping reduce social isolation and strengthen connections within the local community.
About you
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and listening skills, who can build trust with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
You will have experience of providing practical support and guidance to individuals, families or communities and of delivering or facilitating community activities, workshops or group sessions.
You will be organised, approachable and a great team player, able to work independently and confident working in partnership with other organisations.
