Maintenance Electrician

Part Time (0.4 FTE) Permanent.

Ryde School is a co-educational independent day and boarding school for children aged 2-18 years old. We are currently looking to appoint a qualified Electrician to provide electrical services that support varied Maintenance projects across the school as part of our Estates team.

The role is a great opportunity for an experienced electrician who is able to perform electrical tasks to ensure that the School has a safe, efficient, and effective in-house electrical service. The job will require that you adapt to both reactive and proactive maintenance requests within the whole school community as well as working in a standalone position or with sub-contractors on planned project work.

Key tasks will include job diagnosis (identifying from the outset the materials and other trades needed), ensuring that all electrical work conforms to the latest IEE Wiring regulations and current British Standards, adhering to Health & Safety standards, and carrying out general electrical tasks such as electrical installation condition reports, annual emergency light testing, fire alarm testing, installation work, fault finding, and completion of electric certification.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent (Essential)
  • 18th Edition (Desirable)
  • 2391 or equivalent in Inspecting and Testing (Desirable)
  • A flexible attitude, adapting to the needs of the job as and when they arise.
  • Self-motivation, able to work under own initiative yet contribute to a wider team when necessary.
  • Knowledge of the materials and methods used in the electrical industry.
  • Technical Electrical knowledge of working methods, practices, RAMS, regulations, legislation and British Standards
