Job Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Summer Boating Assistant to support boating operations throughout the busy summer season. This role is ideal for someone with solid boating experience who enjoys working outdoors, supporting club members, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our launch services and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist members to and from their boats via the club launch.
• Respond to boats in difficulty and tow when necessary.
• Maintain and prepare the club launch: ensure it is fuelled, clean, and operational.
• Report mechanical or safety issues promptly to the Head Boatman.
• Perform general maintenance: cleaning, power washing, painting, and upkeep of buildings and slipways.
• Keep work areas and shore facilities tidy and safe.

Minimum Requirements:

• RYA Powerboat Level 2
• VHF Radio Operator’s Certificate
• Confident working on the water and assisting with towing operations
• Strong understanding of knots, splicing especially a bowline
• Ability to work flexibly, including occasional later finishes

Desirable Qualifications & Skills:

• Knowledge of Bembridge Harbour and local tidal patterns
• Practical ability with power tools and minor repairs
• Friendly, proactive attitude with good communication skills
