Get ready for the summer job of your life!
The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is recruiting for a Social Media Intern. This is a three-month paid internship when you will be hands-on in supporting the Communications Team during our peak trip season (June-September).
Use your content creation and social media skills to help inspire young people to join our life-changing trips and generate the fundraising support we need so the door is open for more young people to benefit from our adventures.
Experience/background in any of the following is essential - social media, digital content creation, or digital communications. You must have excellent knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn, and the use of photo and/or video editing software (e.g. Canva and CapCut).
No sailing experience or knowledge is required - just a passion for applying your engagement talents to make a real difference in young people believing in their brighter future after treatment for cancer.
This is a fun, rewarding and impactful way to spend your summer, if you’re someone who is full of ideas and loves being part of a team.
The role
You will support our Senior Digital & Social Media Lead on producing content and driving engagement across all our social media channels - Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn.
There are two main objectives - inspire more young people aged 8-24 to believe the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is for them and encourage support through fundraising and donations.
You must be comfortable going out on the water and spending time with young people on a boat during their trips to gather and produce content, and be confident in your writing-for-social skills.
You will also have important responsibilities helping with the management of digital content, and, depending on skills and experience, supporting the comms team with other tasks and in any other ways outlined below and/or requested.
This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a unique industry work placement with one of the country’s leading young person’s cancer support charities.
This role is for you if you...
* Are passionate about the power of social media to tell stories.
* Have a creative mind and a good eye for creating engaging content.
* Are confident and experienced in taking and editing photos and videos.
* Enjoy working as part of a close-knit team.
* Are looking for a way to build your portfolio.
* Working for one of the country’s leading young person’s cancer support charities could help progress your future career aspirations.
We want to learn from you too! We would love your ideas and insights on how to develop the year-round content on TikTok and Instagram particularly, whilst helping us understand how to make even more of the different channel features and formats.
