Spinlock is a multi award winning privately owned Company based in Cowes for nearly 50 years. We design and assemble all our products in Cowes. We are primarily export selling Worldwide to over 60 countries. We employ over 60 people across three sites.

This role is based in Production site in Three Gates Road. We are looking for someone who is practical and flexible. You need to be good at following instructions, have good manual dexterity, great time keeping and organisational skills. This role is responsible for the assembly of our CONTROL/PROTECT and SENSE products to meet our sales order commitments including job rotation as Kitting Co-Ordinator.  Working closely with Despatch and Stores at all times and taking direction from the Production Supervisor.

Role:

Assembly

  • Assembly of components into products using a kit of parts provided in priority order as defined by job location or Production Supervisor.
  • Preparing sub assembly components as required.
  • Preparing components for sub contract work when required.
  • Raising quality issues immediately to Production Supervisor.
  • Completing scrappage orange cards after every job AND before take next job. Placing in bin under quality bench.
  • Liaising with Production Supervisor and Despatch to ensure products are built in required shipping order.
  • Improve speed without effecting quality though coaching and best practice.
  • Assist in stores in order to keep kitting shelf stocked as directed by Production Supervisor.
  • Other duties as required including covering other areas during peak.

Kitting Co-Ordinator

  • Removing kits from conveyor system and place in correct assembly cages, managing order priorities
  • Ensure a constant flow of work by liaising with Production Supervisor and Despatch
  • Return components from incorrect kits/organise short kit components.
  • Move components for printing to print area/printed items returned to stores via conveyor.
  • Empty Large Wheeled Bins from both units to skips when full (request help as required)
  • Move items from departments as required (requests on Teams or in person)
  • Collect empty trays from Despatch and send back on conveyor to Stores.
  • Manage movement and storage of empty cages ensuring in correct locations.
  • Supporting team to meet deadlines and goals for order shipments.
  • Put returns away in correct location in UK Direct daily.

General To All:

  • Report Quality issues to Production Supervisor.
  • Ensure that the area is kept clean and tidy at all times including daily checks and sweeping.
  • Ensuring that the Companies Intranet Records are updated in a timely manner.
  • Wear issued clothing at all times in accordance with Company Policy.
  • Ensure adherence to and compliance with all health and safety requirements and good practice.
  • Ensure adherence to Company procedures and policies.
  • Dress in a professional and appropriate way for your role and in accordance with Company Policy.
  • You may be called to work in other areas as requested by Production Supervisor.

Duties Include:

  • Ensuring that the work in the area you are located is completed to a high standard
  • Liaising with the Production Supervisor when appropriate. 
  • Recording actions accurately in the Companies computer system.
  • Ensuring work is completed in the order set out on the job traveller or as instructed by the Production Supervisors
  • Ensuring all actions are processed accurately and all information is entered into the Companies ERP System
  • Raise health and safety issues immediately to Production Supervisor.
  • Ensuring the area is kept clean and tidy according to Health & Safety Guidelines and Company Procedures and Policies.

Travel Required (minimum) including Internationally and within UK:

  • Attend Design Team Meetings in order to accurately identify new components
  • Head Office visits as required.

Skills/qualifications:

Good time keeping and positivity. Manual dexterity and flexible approach. Able to take directions and understand build process. Good communication - verbal and written. Knowledge of ERP System a benefit but not essential as training will be given. Quality Focus and product knowledge. Good practical Skills and Ability to focus and concentrate/attention to detail.  Accuracy is very important as we build safety products. Able to reliably commute to work in Cowes.
