The Role

We are seeking an experienced Precision Machinist & Welding Operator to join our busy production team. This is a hands-on role suited to a motivated individual with a strong engineering background and a passion for precision manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual milling and turning machines
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Programme XYZ machines to produce precision components
  • Select and set appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds
  • Perform in-process inspections using measuring equipment (e.g. micrometers, calipers, gauges)
  • Carry out routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and production deadlines
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in line with company procedures
  • Welding components (TIG)
  • Stock control

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a machinist within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of XYZ machine programming and setup
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good time management and communication skills

Qualifications & Experience

A relevant engineering qualification or apprenticeship is desirable. Experience with milling, turning, and common control systems is advantageous. Full training on company-specific processes will be provided where required.
