Electronic Systems Engineer - Innovative Physics

Job Posted: 21 March 2025

Job Purpose:

To join our existing team in developing electronic systems, utilising your working knowledge of read-chain development for sensor systems and good self-governance to define systems and system workflows for electronic systems

Job Description: This is a hands-on role requiring a range of technical expertise, combining aspects of systems engineering, circuit design, electronics, physics, mathematics, and analysis. The ideal candidate is a natural problem-solver, capable of understanding how different components in a sensor read-chain interconnect to create innovative solutions to our customers' problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and integrate complex electronic systems for radiation detection, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Apply a broad range of physics, electronics, and mathematics skills to solve interdisciplinary challenges.
  • Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and methods to enhance product development and innovation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation and adhere to/create systematic engineering processes throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Attributes:

  • Ability to grasp how disparate parts of an electronic read-chain interrelate and work together to solve complex problems.
  • A broad field of technical skills and the eagerness to expand this knowledge base to meet evolving company needs,  including electronics design, digital and analogue, physics and sensor technology.
  • A methodical work ethic, ensuring thoroughness and precision in all tasks.
  • Flexibility in thinking, not limited by conventional training, in hands-on work when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Physics, Electronics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • > 5 years of industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a role that blends engineering, physics, and analysis elements. Experience in radiation detection technology is a bonus but not essential.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in at least one programming language and, ideally, familiarity with engineering tools such as KiCAD, LTSpice, PADs, MATLAB, Python, Visual Studio
  • Experience in signal processing techniques, noise reduction, and FPGA or embedded systems would be of benefit.
  • Evidence of practical skills that demonstrate technical competence and innovation (e.g. an example of the previous project/work, personal projects or hobbies related to electronics, mechanics, or other relevant areas).
