We are currently looking for an experienced Paralegal to join our busy Residential property team. Working directly with one of our Senior Associates and within our passionate team, you’ll be reporting to the Head of Department, responsible for providing advice and assistance to a range of clients. This role is office based at either of our Isle of Wight offices (Ryde or Newport).
Role Responsibilities
As a Paralegal you will be responsible for delivering our mission of Great Service, Every Client, Every Time by taking a professional, client-first approach to every case. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Work primarily with a Solicitor to support the delivery of client services including (but not limited to) sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity on the Isle of Wight.
• Effectively and efficiently manage client work as allocated in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, handling enquiries with empathy and professionalism, particularly when clients are vulnerable or under stress.
• Assist in the preparation and drafting of legal documents, including Contracts, Transfers, Reports and related correspondence, under supervision.
• Facilitate client onboarding, including issuing Letters of Engagement, Terms of Business, and Privacy Notices, and managing ID and source of funds verification processes.
• Attend client meetings and home visits as appropriate, providing administrative and practical support.
• Open, maintain, and organise client files using the DPS case management system, following all relevant Solicitors Regulation Authority (“SRA”) rules, General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) requirements, Anti-Money Laundering (“AML”) obligations, and internal compliance policies.
• Draft attendance notes and client communications, ensuring accurate, professional record-keeping.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with third parties including HM Land Registry, banks, estate agents, mortgage brokers and search providers.
• Monitor deadlines and matter progression to ensure service delivery meets client and regulatory expectations
• Take part in department-wide efforts to maintain an efficient, paper-lite and compliant office environment.
• Attend internal training and proactively apply new knowledge and systems.
• Collaborate with team members across all roles, contributing to a respectful, efficient, and client-centred working environment.

They will have sound knowledge and expertise in the field, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to communicate in a friendly, professional and confidential manner. The role will suit those with a positive and flexible approach and an ability to remain calm under pressure in order to project the image and ethos of the firm at all times.
Whilst character is important to us, we do require a certain level of experience and qualification to succeed in this role. These are:
• A law degree (or appropriate equivalent qualification) would be beneficial
• Minimum 1 years’ experience in a comparable legal role
