Have you just finished education and are unsure about what your next steps might be? Have you thought about entering the world of Health and Social Care but haven't previously studied it?
Then the Level 2 Foundation Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care could be the right option for you!
This apprenticeship is designed for those aged 16-21 years old (up to 24 for those with an EHCP) to take their first steps in the Health and Social Care Sector. You'll be employed from the start (30 hours a week at least), gaining real experience in a real Health and Social Care setting and building the confidence, skills and behaviours that you would need to progress further into this sector, all whilst having the support from your employer and HTP Apprenticeship College from day one!
Why choose this?
This Health and Social Care Foundation Apprenticeship is a practical first step for young people on the Isle of Wight looking to start building a career in care. You'll be earning a wage whilst you learn, and gaining real experience from a real Health and Social Care setting, as opposed to sitting in a classroom environment.
This apprenticeship is designed to give you a foundation, rather than a specialist end point, helping to build all of the knowledge, behaviours and practical habits to be able to progress further in this sector.
What you'll learn:
Within this apprenticeship you will build a broad understanding of health and social care, including the below:
- Person-centred support: Helping people with dignity, respect and independence.
- Safeguarding awareness: Learning how to recognise concerns and support safe practice.
- Infection prevention and control: Building safe habits for real care settings.
- Communication and teamwork: Working professionally with individuals, colleagues and wider teams in the sector.
- Digital skills for care: Using the workplace systems and technology with confidence.
- Work-readiness and resilience: Growing your confidence, professionalism and adaptability.
Eligibility:
The Foundation Apprenticeship programme is specifically aimed at those aged 16-21 years of age (up to those aged 24 with an EHCP) to be able to take their first steps in the sector. Due to this, if you have studied any Health and Social Care qualification in Post-16 Education you will likely be ineligible for this programme. Should this be the case, please do feel free to fill out a contact form on our website https://www.htp.ac.uk/ and we would be happy to talk to you about other potential options.
Length and Progression:
The Foundation Apprenticeship programme has a duration of 8 months, with assessments undertaken within this time to evidence proficiency. Upon completion, the Level 2 Adult Care Worker apprenticeship and the Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker apprenticeship would both be viable options to progress to, dependent on the candidate's prior attainment and experiences.
If you would like to know more, please apply via Isle of Wight Jobs or via the link below to express your interest. We will then be in touch.
