Cleaner – Supported Accommodation Homes & Offices - Next Wave Care Group

In this role you will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene across our supported accommodation homes and office premises. This role is essential to creating safe, welcoming, and dignified environments for young people aged 16+, many of whom have experienced trauma or instability.

In the role we expect the candidiate to work professionally, discreetly, and respectfully, understanding the sensitive nature of our care setting. The role involves routine and deep cleaning tasks in communal areas, bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms (when unoccupied or appropriate), and office spaces, while adhering to infection control, safeguarding, and health and safety policies.

Health & Safety and Compliance

• Ensure all cleaning is carried out in accordance with COSHH, infection control, and risk assessments
• Safely store and manage cleaning chemicals and equipment
• Maintain awareness of and report any health and safety hazards
• Follow lone working protocols when on-site alone or out of hours
• Assist with fire safety procedures, including clear access to exits and notices

Routine and Deep Cleaning Tasks

• Clean communal areas: lounges, kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, and entrances
• Ensure bedrooms are cleaned when vacant or following staff direction
• Maintain high hygiene standards in kitchens, ensuring bins, surfaces, and appliances are sanitised
• Clean and replenish bathrooms (toilets, sinks, floors, mirrors, dispensers)
• Vacuum, mop, dust, and sanitise throughout all areas
• Carry out deep cleaning on a scheduled and ad hoc basis
• Clean and maintain the organisation’s central office to a professional standard

 Professional Conduct & Respect for Young People

• Be courteous, respectful, and discreet when working around young people
• Avoid entering rooms without permission and maintain professional boundaries
• Immediately report safeguarding or maintenance concerns to the Team Leader or Service Manager
• Promote a clean, organised environment that supports young people’s pride and ownership of their space

Communication & Record-Keeping

• Complete and maintain cleaning checklists for all areas cleaned
• Notify management of low cleaning supplies, broken equipment, or maintenance issues
• Communicate professionally with colleagues and contribute positively to team culture
