Youth Coach – Newport

Island Youthways | Nurturing Provision

Be the difference in a young person’s life.

If you’re the kind of person who shows up with compassion, builds trust, and genuinely wants to see young people succeed, this could be the role for you.

At Island Youthways, we’re looking for a committed and caring Youth Coach to join our nurturing provision in Newport. This is a rewarding opportunity to do meaningful, people-focused work where no two days are the same—and where your impact truly matters.

About Island Youthways

At Island Youthways, we create a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where young people feel heard, valued and empowered to thrive.

Many of the young people we support have experienced trauma and may face emotional or mental health challenges, or have a history of offending behaviour. Our approach is compassionate, relationship-based, and focused on helping young people build confidence and transition into adulthood.

About the Role

As a Youth Coach, you’ll play a vital role in supporting young people with everyday life and personal development, including:

  • Building day-to-day independent living skills
  • Supporting education, training and employment goals
  • Attending appointments and advocating where needed
  • Promoting emotional wellbeing and resilience
  • Helping young people navigate the challenges of adulthood

Shift pattern:

  • Two 18-hour shifts per week
  • 15:30 start
  • Sleep-in: 23:00 – 07:00
  • Finish at 09:30

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Kind, caring and compassionate
  • Experienced in working with young people—and genuinely enjoys it
  • Motivating and encouraging, with a positive outlook
  • Adaptable and able to build strong, trusting relationships
  • A friendly, reliable team player who can also think on their feet
  • Emotionally resilient, patient and proactive

Essential:

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Access to a vehicle with business insurance

Hours & Flexibility

  • Set 2-week rolling rota
  • Includes evenings, sleep-ins and alternate weekends
  • Opportunity for additional hours covering annual leave and sickness

Pay & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate
  • Sleep-in paid in line with National Living Wage
  • Enhanced DBS fully funded
  • Full training provided (no cost to you)
  • Ongoing development and progression opportunities
  • A supportive, values-driven team
  • A warm, homely working environment

Interested?

If this sounds like the right fit for you, we’d love to hear from you.
