Cowes Town Council requires a part time Deputy Town Clerk.
Location: Based at the Town Council Office, Northwood House, Cowes.
Salary: NJC LC2 (Below Substantive) starting at SCP 18 (£16.35/hr) equating to a part-time equivalence salary of £17,004 pa with progression available up to SCP 23 (£17.85/hr) equating to a part-time equivalence salary of £18,564 pa. Pay award pending on all rates.

Responsibilities
The Deputy Town Clerk is responsible for primarily providing administrative support and assistance to the Town Clerk, providing cover as necessary in the absence of the Town Clerk and providing an effective and friendly Town Council point of contact offering help and assistance to members of the public, outside agencies and Councillors.
The role will consult with the Chairs of Town Council Committees and Working Groups and is responsible for managing regular and ad-hoc meetings, committees and working groups; creating agendas, attending the meeting to record and then agreeing and publishing meeting minutes; overseeing the completion of any actions arising as recorded in the minutes and maintaining and managing the Town Council Office actions register. Note that this will include out-of-hours meetings. As an indication, the commitment is currently 3 to 4 meetings a month and with those meetings being held between 18:00 and 21:00. Attending these meetings will be deemed part of the role’s contracted hours.
A track record of experience in similar equivalent roles is expected as are comprehensive organisational and liaison skills with ideally a good understanding of local government processes and procedures; knowledge of the necessary IT software applications needed to support role delivery e.g. MS Office, and a willingness to undertake any training that may be deemed necessary to support the role.
