These are exciting times on the Isle of Wight within Adult Social Care, the whole service has supported a redesign that enhances strength-based practice, working with the community and our third sector partners.

About the role:

Our Wellbeing & Access Hub is the front door of Adult Social Care. The focus of this post will be to support the Wellbeing & Access Hub duty desk and community-based teams dealing with daily calls from the public, supporting people to remain as independent as possible in the community and preventing a need for more formal support. We are doing this using a strength based initial screening tool to promote independence and collaborative working with people rather than using a dependency model approach. This links in with our Care Closer to home strategy on the Island.

Our Wellbeing & Access Hub has moved to new ways of working, the team is made up of multidisciplinary staff; including our Occupational Therapy colleagues, partner agencies from the third and voluntary sector, our reablement service, alongside trusted assessors, social workers, and other staff who are able to provide expert advice and guidance to support those we serve.

A rare opportunity has arisen for the Wellbeing & Access Hub to appoint 2 Administrative Officers who will be required to provide a full range of administrative duties and support to this very busy adult social care duty team.

The role requires answering calls from the public that require the assistance of adult social care and much of your time will be covering the telephone lines. You will be responsible for transferring the calls to the relevant person and teams. You will have a confident, empathetic telephone manner, as the calls can be varying in nature.

The role is office based and will require supporting the team with administrative tasks such as, printing and posting correspondence in line with the local authority's data protection policy.

The post holder will be required to organise and minute confidential and sensitive meetings to a high standard. These meetings will contain complex information, therefore proven minute taking skills are essential. You will gather and analyse data, have excellent IT skills with a good knowledge of a variety of IT packages, including Excel.

The role requires you to review and implement new systems within the service as well as work closely with the team members and the group manager, so being able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing is essential.

About us:

Here on the Isle of Wight we strive to be the best we can be for our community, with talented Social Care professionals leading the way. We are a hard-working team, and it doesn’t go unnoticed, we were named as finalists for one of the most prestigious awards in Adult Social Care - The MJ Awards 2021 in the Care and Health Integration category!
