Studio Machinist - IW Location, Production Studio

The role of a Studio Machinist is to produce the highest quality work for our clients.

The main responsibilities will include working machinery – laser cutters, CNC routers and hand/power tools, cleaning and maintaining the machines daily, preparing materials, preparing drawing files, fabrication, packing and providing holiday cover for other team members on the Island and our London studio

We are looking for someone to provide an exceptional standard of service for our clients. Our deadlines can often be tight; therefore, the ideal candidate will work well under pressure and be very organised.

We work with a huge array of clients on varied projects on the island and nationally, often these can be quite high profile and lots of fun to make. 

This role would suit someone who enjoys working well in a small team, so excellent interpersonal skills are essential as well as a positive and approachable attitude. Problem solving, creative thinking and willing to go the extra mile is a necessity, as well as being versatile and hard working.

We are always looking at ways to improve efficiency, develop production methods and increase the scope of our work, we would be looking for these qualities in our ideal candidate too. As we are quite a small team, we all have a variety of different jobs so this position would ideal for someone who enjoys being busy and multi-tasking, we are very much looking for someone who will ‘roll up their sleeves and get stuck in’.

We actively encourage everyone in our team to use the machines to create their own projects too

Education, training and qualifications

Level 2 Maths and English qualification

Any design / technology qualifications or experience

First Aid qualification

Skills and Knowledge

Proficient IT Skills, including knowledge of drawing programmes

Illustrator/AutoCAD/CorelDraw/Rhino software knowledge or equivalent

Experience

2 years’ experience in a busy production or workshop environment or similar

Experience working in engineering,

manufacturing or design industries or with CAM/CAD machinery

Personal Attributes

Enthusiastic and friendly

Excellent multi-tasking skills

Team player

Efficient and hard working

Good attention to detail

Practical and dexterous
