Purpose of role
Unitspark are an Electrical and Mechanical Engineering contractor working within the UK construction industry, mainly within Water Utilities.
The Engineer will hold a technical role within the company and should set examples of excellent conduct and professionalism. For individual projects, they will report to the assigned Project Manager, however, dependent on experience they could be expected to accept ownership of certain lower valued contracts.
This role will require the ability to effectively liaise with internal staff (both senior and junior) and external clients / contractors in a polite, professional and courteous manner, providing electrical & Mechanical/ controls technical support requirements for multiple projects company wide.
Accountabilities
Typical (non-exhaustive) duties may include: -
- Assemble, install, and maintain mechanical components and systems according to specifications and engineering drawings.
- Mechanical Installations & Repairs including Pumps, Fans & Gearboxes
- Mechanical maintenance and servicing of plant
- Carry out electrical installation work to BS7671.
- Carry out installation, service and repair to variety of low voltage electrical control systems.
- Carry out installation and commissioning of a variety of instrumentation systems, including pressure, levels, temperature and flow.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation requirements.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues, diagnose problems, and implement effective solutions.
- Be capable of carrying out testing and inspection of electrical installation and providing satisfactory documentation as required by the Company’s nominated certificating body (NICEIC, ECA etc.)
- Collaborate with contractors and other tradespeople to complete projects efficiently and safely.
- Provide written technical reports and other documentation as required by senior engineering professionals.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing client questions and concerns professionally.
- PC literate and be able to demonstrate a basic background in IT skills.
- Participate in a call-out rota to cover Clients 24/7 reactive breakdowns
- Adhere to Companies Policies, Procedures & Legal Practices
- Adhere to the Companies Health & Safety Policies & Procedures
- Adhere to the Companies Quality Management system.
- Adhere to the site-specific rules & regulations & to leave sites clean & tidy.
Essential for Role
- Full mechanical apprenticeship or qualifications
- Full electrical apprenticeship or qualifications
- NVQ Level 3
- 18th Edition
- ECS Gold Card
- Ability to organise and manage time effectively
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good PC literacy
- Ability to work well with other teams within the company
