Here at The Isle of Wight College we work with a number of employers, in a vast array of industries. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as an Engineering Apprentice at AD Precision Engineering Ltd. 

AD Precision was founded in 1998. Since then their aim has been to provide a full range of engineering and manufacturing processes for companies worldwide.

Located in Ryde on The Isle of Wight, the team are dedicated to delivering excellent results. With over 40 years’ experience AD Precision’s employees are highly skilled, e?cient and effective.

Rather excitingly and owing to apprentice success, AD Precision are now seeking to recruit an energetic apprentice to join their friendly team whilst working towards an Engineering Apprenticeship.

Tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Engineering Machinist operating Milling and Turning Machines
  • Programming/measuring
  • Quality Control
  • Learning daily procedures
  • Full training will be provided

Qualifications Required:

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English & Maths (or equivalent qualification and/or ability to work towards these Functional Skills) 

Apprenticeship Standard: 

  • Engineering Operative Level 2 Standard (Level 3 if Level 2 previously already completed)
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English if required and not previously achieved GCSE grade 4/C or above
  • 12 to 18-month apprenticeship
  • There is a requirement to complete 20% off the job training, College attendance will contribute but time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role will also be counted

Working Week:

  • 37.5 hours per week



  • Dependant on skills


The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £4.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
