Here at The Isle of Wight College we work with a number of employers, in a vast array of industries. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as an Engineering Apprentice at the Meeting Pod Co.

The Meeting Pod Co is an award-winning family run business that manufactures indoor and outdoor commercial and domestic meeting pods from our production facility on the Isle of Wight in the UK. From our humble beginnings in 2016, The Meeting Pod Co continues its exponential growth, now supplying our indoor and outdoor pods across The World.

The Meeting Pod Co manufactures and sells Indoor and Outdoor Office Pods to provide meeting space and breakout areas for office, commercial, healthcare and educational workplaces or campuses. Our office pods are dynamic in style, exceptional in quality and deliver a purpose that is now aligned to the new ways we want to meet, work and learn.

Due to exciting growth, the business is now seeking an engineering apprentice to join their friendly team in Newport, Isle of Wight.

Tasks and Responsibilities will include:

  • Woodworking
  • Metal work
  • Cnc
  • Fitting out of product
  • Glazing
  • Installations
  • Movement of product

Qualifications Required:

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English & Maths (or equivalent qualification and/or ability to work towards these Functional Skills)

Working Week:

Monday to Friday

0800 to 1630

Wage:

£8.60 Per hour

Apprenticeship Standard:

  • Engineering Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Weekly attendance at CECAMM from September 2024
  • There is a requirement to complete off the job training, College attendance will contribute but time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role will also be counted

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £6.40 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
