Vectawave Technology Limited, established in 1997, is a manufacturer of robust, air-cooled, class A power amplifiers for industrial, military, and medical applications. The company operates from a high-tech, purpose-built facility in Newport, on the Isle of Wight, equipped with cutting-edge design, build, and test facilities to meet the high demand for its products.

Rather excitingly and owing to previous apprentice success, Vectawave Technology Ltd are seeking an Electrical Manufacturing Apprentice to join their small friendly team and gain hands-on experience in the assembly and testing of electronic components.

This apprenticeship will allow you to work closely with experienced professionals, developing practical skills and valuable industry knowledge.

Main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·         Assist in assembling electronic components with precision.

·         Support testing procedures to ensure high-quality manufacturing.

·         Work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

·         Follow technical drawings and instructions accurately.

·         Learn to use industry-specific tools and equipment.

 

Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

Essential Qualities and Skills:

·         Strong interest in electrical manufacturing

·         Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

·         Good IT and hand skills

·         Effective communication and teamwork abilities

·         Punctual, reliable, and safety-conscious

 

Apprenticeship Standard:

  • Either Engineering Operative Level 2 or Engineering Fitter Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard, dependant on the successful candidate’s previous qualifications.
  • Duration of the Apprenticeship will be between 2 to 4 years.
  • There is a requirement to complete off the job training for 6 hours per week where you will be learning new skills within the workplace, time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role will also be counted.
  • Weekly attendance at CECAMM as part of the Apprenticeship from September 2025.

Working Week:

·         37 hours per week.

·         Monday to Friday.

Wage:

·         £6.40 per hour.

Additional information:

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £6.40 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Once qualified and dependant on needs of the business at the time of apprenticeship completion, there may be the potential to grow within the company as a permanent employee with performance based progressive pay.
