We are seeking a dedicated Safeguarding Officer to play a key role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our students across all college campuses.
About The Role:
As the first point of contact within the safeguarding team, you’ll provide triage support via My Concern, manage complex and day-to-day cases, and work closely with students, staff, parents/carers, and external agencies. You will also support staff with safeguarding procedures and maintain accurate records.
You’ll manage a caseload of vulnerable students, contribute to risk assessments and referrals, attend multi-agency meetings, and promote safeguarding awareness across the college. This role also includes developing resources, delivering staff training, and supporting improvements to safeguarding systems, including the use of AI.
As a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Person (DDSP), you’ll be instrumental in maintaining a secure, inclusive and responsive learning environment.
Key responsibilities:
· To be the first point of contact in the College’ safeguarding team providing a safeguarding triage service (My Concern), coordinating support and assisting with day to day and complex safeguarding concerns.
· Collaborate with curriculum staff to ensure a smooth transition for new students in at risk categories.
· Maintain accurate records of safeguarding concerns and any actions taken.
· Advocate for more vulnerable and at risk students ensuring that their voice is heard.
· To coordinate referrals to social care/external agencies and contribute to reports for relevant meetings
· Create resources and guides for staff and students related to safeguarding and provide promotion of safeguarding internally in College and externally through online media platforms.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
· Level 2 Qualifications in English and Maths
· A Level 4 Qualification or above in Safeguarding, or a willingness to work towards
· An enhanced understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)
· Able to work under pressure, to be organised and prioritise own workload to meet deadline
