Receptionist & School Administrator - Ryde School

Job Posted: 16 July 2025

Closing Date: Sunday 27th July

Receptionist & School Administrator

Full Time, Permanent:

Working hours are expected to be Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm during term time and 9am-5pm during school holidays (35 hours per week, year-round).

Ryde School is a co-educational independent day and boarding school for children aged 2-18 years old. We are currently looking to appoint a highly-organised Receptionist & School Administrator who will be a vital part of the Ryde School community by providing a welcoming and friendly presence to pupils, parents and visitors of the school and supporting departments across the school.

This is an all year round role and a great opportunity for an experienced receptionist who is highly adaptable, able to self-manage and utilise strong IT skills to deliver timely school data that is essential to the daily school operation. Key tasks will involve maintaining the day-to-day running of the main school reception area, alongside ownership of pupil attendance and registration data and administration to support all areas of the School. Due to the reactive nature of a busy reception, you will need to reply upon your own initiative to manage a varied workload in a responsive and professional manner.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of providing an efficient administrative service, ideally from within a school environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop trusting relationships with parents and pupils.
  • Experience of working in a school environment with knowledge of safeguarding (ongoing training will be provided and is mandatory).
  • Demonstrable understanding of confidentiality and GDPR requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong sense of personal organisation.
  • A flexible attitude, adapting to the needs of the job as and when they arise.

Ryde School is a vibrant place to work where all staff contribute to providing an exceptional educational experience for our pupils through our shared values. We work in the grounds of a 17-acre site that overlooks the Solent and within walking distance of Ryde town. Our facilities reflect the rich history of the school, blending both traditional and modern buildings, sport facilities (employees can use the school gym), the Jenny Kerry Performing Arts Centre and our barista coffee shop, The Pavilion.

In return for providing exceptional administrative support, we will offer you a competitive salary, Simply Health healthcare cashback scheme, car parking allocation in our staff car park, cycle to work and technology schemes, free lunch during term time, and many more of the benefits you would expect from an employer that strives to be an employer of choice.

In accordance with current legislation, candidates are required to fully complete a Ryde School Non-Teaching Application Form (available on our website) www.rydeschool.org.uk.

All applications must include the names, addresses and telephone numbers of at least two referees including the current employer. To satisfy the requirements for safer recruitment, we need to ask you for your full employment record. Details of any gaps between jobs or between finishing education and employment must be provided.  Hard copy application forms may also be collected from our Reception in Queen’s Road. Postal and electronic applications are both welcome, and to be addressed to; Mrs Mandy Parry, HR Administrator, Ryde School, Queen’s Road, Ryde PO33 3BE. Email:  [email protected]

The closing date for applications is Sunday 27th July. Interviews will take place at the school the week commencing Monday 28th July.

Ryde School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Ryde School is committed to the principles of equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusion. Ryde School does not discriminate on the grounds of race or colour, nationality or national or ethnic origins, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy or maternity, marital or civil partnership status, gender reassignment, age, and disability. Applications are welcome from a diverse range of backgrounds.
