Education Officer
Short term zero hours contract on a freelance basis
approx 5-6hrs/week (flexible) @£18/hr 100 weeks
This Heritage Lottery funded post will play a significant role to ensure the success of this project.
Job Description:
This post is based at Naturezones.
We require a qualified primary school teacher for an average of 6 hrs a week on a self-employed basis for around 18 months. Hours will be flexible but you will
need to engage with teachers at times when they are available, so the post could suit someone looking for term-time only work.
You will need to have an excellent understanding of the Primary National Curriculum for England programmes of study for Science at Key Stage 2. in particular the topics of Plants, Animals including, Living things and their habitats and Evolution. Familiarity with the Key Stage 1 curriculum would also be an advantage.
The aim of this role is to bring primary schools to Naturezones for a dedicated scientific educational visit based upon the topic they are currently studying.
You will need to be able to engage with teachers as a professional and present an
element of authority on the subject.
We have well versed instructors and teachers but depending on the increase in visits you may be required to assist in the running of some sessions.
The main role will be to engage directly with primary schools across the Isle of Wight. You will clearly explain the benefits of an educational visit to Naturezones. You will also explain that Naturezones is dedicated to the National Curriculum and all tuition is in real time, bringing their classroom lessons to life. Life cycles, food chains, surveys, identification, habitats and much, much more.
We have pre-prepared lesson plans to support the visit with pre visit lesson and post visit lesson. You my need to update these lesson plans.

Responsibilities. The Education Officer will be responsible to the Project Manager and Trustees
The successful applicant will have an up to date enhanced DBS or agree to a DBS check
