Salary  - upto £29409 per annum (pro-rata), this is a term time only contract, you will only be required to work 38 weeks every year (Christmas and School Holidays not required to be worked).  

Holiday - you will receive an additional hourly payment for your holiday based on 30 days (pro-rata), plus bank holiday and given days during shutdown periods, which will be paid monthly, in addition to your salary above

Hours - 39 hours per week (term time only 38 weeks)

At the Isle of Wight College, we are looking for a Chef Manager/Trainer to lead our education training restaurant with flair, finesse and fire.  This is more than a job - it’s your chance to share the future of hospitality by mentoring students in a real-world kitchen environment. 

This role is term-time only, meaning you'll work 39 hours a week across 38 weeks per year - giving you the perfect blend of professional fulfilment and personal time.  Whether you're refining your own recipes, travelling for inspiration or simply enjoying a well-earned break, you'll have the flexibility to recharge outside of peak college times.

What you'll be stirring up

Lead the Line: Oversee daily operations of our training kitchen and restaurant, ensuring every place is a masterpiece and every service runs like clockwork

Inspire and Instruct: Train and assess catering students in all aspects of food prep, cooking, and service, support and encourage their creavtivity and pride in their craft. 

Teach with Taste: Deliver engaging training sessions both in-house and for external partners, sharing your culinary wisdom with flair. 

Craft Menus with Meaning: Develop sustainable, cost-effective menus that meet curriculum goals and delight diners. 

Support Beyond the Stove: Help students with assignments, competitions, and work placements, and contribute to enrichment activities like mental health projects and support to our community. 

Your Ingredients for Success

* Level 3 qualification in food production (or equivalent)

* Level 2 award in Food Safety

* A1 Assessor Award (or willingness to train with financial support from the College)

* Extensive experience in commercial kitchens

* Passion for mentoring and developing others

* Deep knowledge of food hygiene, menu planning, and sustainability

* Excellent culinary and communication skills

* A commitment to safeguarding, equality and continuous professional development
