About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Animal Care Lecturer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and informative lessons to students, covering a range of topics related to the care and management of small animals and will cover animal science, health and welfare, accommodation and establishment. This role involves both classroom teaching and practical sessions in our well-equipped animal care facilities.
You will be expected to work safely, in accordance with the College’s safeguarding and departmental risk assessment procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons on animal care.
• Develop and update curriculum materials to ensure they are current and relevant.
• Provide practical demonstrations and supervise hands-on activities with small animals.
• Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
• Maintain a safe and hygienic environment for both students and animals.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in animal care and incorporate them into teaching.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Animal Care program.
About You:
• A degree in Animal Care, Veterinary Science, or a related field.
• Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE) or willingness to work towards one.
• Experience working with small animals in a professional setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of animal welfare.
• Good planning, preparation and organisation skills
