The Head of Housekeeping is responsible for leading the housekeeping team to maintain a clean, safe, hygienic and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff. The role ensures compliance with CQC standards, infection prevention and control requirements, and health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise the housekeeping and laundry teams.
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness throughout the home.
- Implement infection prevention and control procedures.
- Conduct regular quality and environmental audits.
- Manage cleaning supplies, equipment and departmental budgets.
- Recruit, train, supervise and appraise housekeeping staff.
- Ensure COSHH and Health & Safety compliance.
- Promote residents' dignity, privacy and comfort.
- Support CQC inspections and continuous quality improvement.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Previous housekeeping supervisory or management experience.
- Knowledge of infection control and COSHH.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Experience in a care home, healthcare or hospitality environment.
The Head of Housekeeping plays a key role in ensuring the care home provides a safe, comfortable and homely environment while delivering high standards of cleanliness and regulatory compliance.
