About the role
The Isle of Wight Society for the Blind is the oldest independent Charity on the stunning Isle of Wight and was established in 1865. We are currently seeking a vibrant and dynamic CEO to lead our Charity in meeting our strategic aims and working for the benefit of those living with sensory loss.
The successful candidate will also oversee the sensory rehabilitation contract the Charity holds.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a setting where community is key and fostering relations is paramount. Your role will require you to ensure that charity resources are used effectively as we are principally funded by donations, legacies, and the time donated by our extensive team of volunteers who donate both their time and skills.
We are looking for an experienced leader who couples a strategic mindset with the ability to listen and communicate openly putting our members at the heart of everything we do. From Board through to staff and Volunteers, your goal will be to harness shared strengths and explore new opportunities.
About you:
You will need the following skills and experiences in your toolkit to provide effective leadership for our Charity. These can be gained in the Not-for-Profit or the commercial sector:
· Work closely with the Board continuing to develop, maintain and implement both our short and long-term strategies.
· Lead and manage the organisation, including all financial and budgetary requirements.
· Manage our staff and volunteers to ensure effective and efficient services.
· Administer and operate Fundraising and income generation ensuring targets are met.
· Continue to develop the Charity’s impact and profile representing the Charity on other external board and across all media.
· Put the real needs of our members at the forefront of everything we do.
· Evolve effective relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
· Demonstrate an affinity for people with all forms of sensory loss and championing their needs.
· Lived experience of sensory loss is valued and encouraged.
If you have an understanding of the needs of people living with sensory loss, of financial management and are as excited by this opportunity as we are, please get in touch as soon as possible,. We would love to begin conversations with interested candidates early. Please contact our Chairperson Sue Bungey on [email protected] for an application pack.
Deadline for Applications: Friday 11th April 2025.
Interviews to be held week commencing Monday 21st April 2025.
Our charity actively promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion. We match charity needs with the skills and experience of candidates, irrespective of their backgrounds, beliefs, gender or disabilities.
