A vacancy has arisen for an End of Life Vehicle (ELV) Operative / Yard Operative. The job will involve the depollution and preparation of scrap vehicles prior to bailing using specialist depollution equipment. You will be tasked with the removal of all oils and fluids from vehicles as well as removal of tyres, batteries, oil filters and various parts. The role will also involve general yard labouring duties such as the sorting and processing of incoming scrap metal, as well as assisting customers and keeping the yard tidy and organised. You will help assist with the unloading and weighing of material and must be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment. The role will require you to operate various scrap metal processing machinery, such as hydraulic balers and shears, etc.
Previous experience of working within the automotive industry would be an advantage as well as knowledge of different metal grades.
The successful applicant must have a positive attitude, be health and safety conscious, be a good team player and have a hands-on approach. They must also have good customer service skills and enjoy working outdoors in all conditions in an industrial environment.
Full time position - Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.
Pay - Competitive (depending on experience)
Holiday - 28 days paid holiday entitlement (inclusive of bank holidays) increasing to 30 days after 3 years’ service.
