Who we are…..
Eden House Residential Home, part of St Vincent Care Homes Ltd. have been offering care and support to the elderly for over 30 years and we pride ourselves on having an amazing team of staff with a great atmosphere, so you feel comfortable and happy coming to work each day. As we are a small home of maximum 20 residents, we really get to know our residents and always advocate for the best outcomes for them as they become our second family. We hold high standards, and pride ourselves on ensuring our staff are highly trained and deeply caring so that they can provide the best possible care to our service users. A majority of our service users also live with dementia which means that every day brings a new experience for both our staff and our service users, and we support our residents through all of their dementia journey. Resident and staff safety and comfort are our utmost priority, we always undertake full assessments of potential residents so that we are fully equipped and prepared to support them in the best way possible. We also want our staff to enjoy coming to work and work closely with the team to ensure that work is manageable and fair.
About the role
We are looking for a weekend Kitchen Porter to support the chef and the care team with dishes and food preparation.
This is an active role where you will be ensuring a clean and tidy environment within the kitchenette, supporting the chef to prepare food in line with Food Hygiene Regulations, washing up, setting up the mid-morning drinks trolleys, preparing jugs of squash to be taken to residents, and lastly wiping tables and cleaning floors in the dining room / kitchen at the end of your shift, and signing your delegation paperwork.
You will be supported to complete your training so that you are always up to date with the latest guidance; giving you the confidence to know that you are completing your job, according to best practice and to the best of your ability.
You will have the responsibility of working under the chef and with the care team, ensuring tasks are completed to high standards and that work is always completed in line with our policies and procedures.
The hours for this role are every Saturday and Sunday, 8am-2pm.
About you
We are looking for a capable individual, able to ensure a clean and tidy environment. This is not a directly resident-facing role but you may interact with some of our resident who like to spend time in the dining room so someone easygoing and able to chat would be beneficial. A background in KP'ing would be preferred but is not essential as full training is provided including a Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate.
Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Unfortunately we cannot offer sponsorship at this time.
