We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our independent café, situated within our department store.

This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring chef who loves good food, quality ingredients and being part of a busy, creative kitchen. You’ll help prepare and serve fresh, beautifully presented food.

The Role

Our kitchen is positioned within the café counter on the shop floor, making this a unique opportunity to work in a customer-facing kitchen environment where food, craft and hospitality come together.

You’ll support the café manager with the preparation and service of our menu, ensuring everything we serve is made to a consistently high standard.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

·         Preparing fresh ingredients

·         Preparing and plating food to our strict recipe and presentation standards

·         Managing your food ticket line professionally and efficiently during busy service periods

·         Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen

·         Following food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures

·         Confident managing allergens and dietary requirements

·         Able to work independently while keeping a clean, organised kitchen (EHO & H&S standards)

·         Supporting with deliveries, stock rotation and kitchen organisation

·         Working closely with the café and front-of-house team

·         Being part of a welcoming and enjoyable experience for our customers

About You

We’re looking for someone with a genuine love of food and desire to learn

You’ll be:

·         Enthusiastic, hardworking and keen to develop your culinary skills

·         Curious about ingredients, cooking and food preparation

·         A positive and reliable team player

·         Calm and organised during busy periods

·         Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene – essential or willing to obtain

·         Proud of your work and attentive to detail

·         Comfortable working in a visible, customer-facing kitchen

·         Ideally experienced in a professional kitchen or catering environment
