A.J Wells & Sons Limited are one of the UK’s leading manufacturers & installers of vitreous enamel cladding and signage as well as designing and manufacturing the renowned Charnwood range of woodburning stoves.
We are looking to expand our Design Team in the new year and are looking for a Mechanical/Product Designer and Draughtsman,
You will work within a small design team, carrying out a range of tasks including the production of drawings for both manufacture and client sign off, and liaising with project managers to ensure smooth delivery of designs to customers. At present designs are drawn using SolidWorks, technical documentation is produced using Microsoft Office and Corel Draw.
The successful applicant will need to have a good appreciation of mechanical design requirements and aesthetic design and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
An understanding of fabrication requirements, familiarity with 3D solid modelling techniques and understanding of drawing office standards and procedures would be advantageous.
Training will be provided where required.
This is a permanent position, and the successful applicant will need to be able to work well with the existing design team. The ability to communicate well with others is vital, as well as the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
The design team works at the head office site in Newport on the Isle of Wight and normal design office hours are 8.00am — 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Annual holiday is 24 days plus bank holidays, some of the 24 days allowance is fixed between Christmas and New Year. Salary is negotiable depending on experience and ability. There may be an occasional requirement to travel.
