Here at The Isle of Wight College we work with a number of employers, in a vast array of industries. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as a Trainee Lending Representative at Cherry Godfrey.

Cherry Godfrey provide personal and business loans, along with Insurance and Mortgage broking services. This is a unique opportunity to join a leading financial organisation as an Apprentice Trainee Lending Representative based at our Newport, Isle of Wight office.

This is the perfect chance to gain valuable skills and experience in customer service and financial administration, all while studying towards a Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship and working towards a rewarding career.

Tasks and Responsibilities will include:

 

·         Working within the lending team, dealing with customer enquires face to face, email, website, telephone etc.

 

·         Meeting with customers to obtain and record the relevant information needed, following organisational set administrative processes.

·         Discussing their requirements and assisting with the process, either directly, or assisting other team members.

 

·         Gathering the necessary information to formulate a loan proposal.

 

·         Evaluate, prepare and approve loan applications in line with Policies and Procedures.

 

·         Provide a complete loan application with explanatory notes for approval of the underwriter.

 

·         Answer loan queries relating to current and potentially new customers e.g., change bank details, payment dates, settlement figures.

 

·         General administrative duties and updating of Group databases.

 

·         Contacting existing customers for customer follow up.

 

·         Some travel will be required to work in our Southampton office.

 

·         Undertake additional duties as and when requested.

 

Essential Qualities and Skills:

·         Excellent interpersonal skills (confident, approachable, good customer service skills) with the ability to deal with enquiries at all levels, both face to face and telephone.

·         Good organisational skills.

·         Ability to follow processes and accurately record sensitive, confidential data.

·         Good IT skills - proficient in using computers for data management and communication.

·         Minimum Grade 4 in English and maths.

·         Attention to detail- accuracy in handling sensitive data and loan documentation.

 

Apprenticeship Standard:

·     Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard.

·     Functional Skills in Maths and English if required and if not previously achieved GCSE grade 4 or above.

·     There is a requirement to complete 20% off the job training, which equates to 6 hours per week. This will be time spent shadowing colleagues, learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role.

·     Attendance at Isle of Wight College as required.

Working Week:

·         Monday to Friday.

·         35 hours per week.

·         9am to 5pm.

Wage:

·         £8.80 per hour

·         £308 per week.

 

Additional information below:

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £6.40 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Once qualified and dependant on needs of the business at the time of apprenticeship completion, there may be opportunities to progress within the lending team, along with additional responsibilities to secure new business via working with local businesses and customers.
