Are you an organised and detail-oriented professional with a passion for business? We are looking for a dedicated Logistics Coordinator Apprentice to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for co-ordinating overseas and UK shipping and ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods. You will need strong Microsoft Excel and maths skills.

Some of your key responsibilities
- Obtaining of shipping quotes. Negotiate best options.
- Analyse and compare quotes to encourage savings across business.
- Present your written findings.
- Record shipping information on company systems to support logistical business decisions and other departments in the company.
- Complete import / export customs documentation to ensure most efficient / cost effective procedures can be taken advantage of.
- Continuous monitoring of forwarder / haulier performance.
- Support purchasing & customer care team to provide advice on ETAs for import and export consignments.
- Maintain working relationships with freight forwarders.
- Maintain good relationships with overseas suppliers when in direct communication.
- Support the purchasing team with any day-to-day tasks and holiday/sick cover.
· Complete Business Administration Apprenticeship within 12-18 months and any additional training required.
A Typical Day
Located in our Head Office in Cowes Town, sharing an office with two. The role is 100% desk based, working on a computer. On arrival a quick catchup with line manager to discuss any issues or priorities for day. Open Outlook and read through emails. Prioritise emails and work through ensuring consider time zones and priorities. Chase any outstanding quotes, email and telephone. Update ERP system with latest information. Check shipment locations and update ERP system with latest information. Obtain confirmation dates from suppliers for outstanding orders, email or telephone, and update the ERP system with latest information. Prepare report/s to show options for shipping using calculations and pass to line manager for approval. Deal with new emails considering priority of other tasks. Discuss any queries with line manager. Data entry into our ERP system. Other administration tasks as requested. Course work for apprenticeship to fit in around tasks.
Requirements
- Very Strong in MS Office packages – namely Outlook, Excel and Teams.
- Good understanding of mathematics including percentages and FX.
- Strong analytical skills and commercial mind-set.
- Positive attitude with an interest in business.
- Highly organised and ability to prioritise.
- Happy to work under direction as well as use initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to keep colleagues informed and up to date on relevant developments. Open communication style.
- Keen to learn and develop new skills.
- Reliable with good time keeping.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure, to exceptionally tight deadlines with a meticulous eye for detail.

Hours: Part Time initially, 9am to 4pm with one hour lunch (6-hour day / 30-hour week). Our standard working week is 40 hours, and the role may develop into a full-time role.
Location: Spinlock HQ Cowes, a few minutes’ walk from the town centre.
Rate: Apprentice Rate Year One £10 per hour then National Living Wage, if higher. Review once completed apprenticeship successfully of Real Living Wage Foundation minimum.
