Role Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Electrical Engineer Apprentice to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for Year 1, 2, or 3 students looking to begin or continue a career in electrical engineering while gaining practical experience alongside formal training. You will work closely with experienced engineers and contribute to projects from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist qualified electricians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in industrial settings, predominantly within the water industry.
  • Learn to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documents.
  • Carry out basic electrical tasks such as cable pulling, trunking, conduit installation, and component assembly.
  • Support testing, inspection, and fault-finding activities under supervision.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to a high standard of safety and organisation.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, including safe isolation practices and PPE requirements.
  • Attend college or training provider sessions as required and complete coursework on time.
  • Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers.

Training & Development:

  • Enrolment in a recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship programme
  • On-the-job training with experienced engineers and mentors
  • Opportunities to develop technical and professional skills

Requirements:

  • Strong interest in electrical engineering and how systems operate
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office; knowledge of electrical systems or CAD is a plus but not essential)

Entry Requirements:

  • Apprenticeship not started: Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above (or equivalent), including Maths, English, and Science or a relevant technical subject. Unitspark will enrol successful applicants starting college September 2026. Must be able to commence employment no later than August 2026.
  • Currently studying in Year 1, 2, or 3 Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship.

Desirable:

  • Interest or experience in electrical or engineering projects (school or personal)
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles and safety practices
