St. Catherine’s is a small national charity, working with children and young adults with a range of speech, language and communication needs.
St. Catherine’s offers day and residential placements within our school and college and residential placements for young adults post 19. We have a holistic and collaborative team of teachers, therapists and support workers ensuring that each young person achieves the best outcome in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Role Overview:
St Catherine’s is seeking a hard-working and enthusiastic individual to join our busy and energetic team as an apprentice within our administration team.
You will be working full time in our administration team, providing administrative support to a range of stakeholders across our organisation.
You will have the opportunity to experience busy office and reception areas as well as being supported in your learning working towards your Business Administration level 3 qualification.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
• To build and maintain an understanding of the charity.
• To provide administrative support for Education and Health Care Plans (EHCP) in relation to our students.
• To ensure the highest standards of confidentiality are upheld.
• To format reports for EHCP annual reviews.
• To ensure follow up to actions from annual reviews.
• To provide administrative support for parent and student meetings, liaisons
• To manage the school uniform process – ordering stock, handling orders and suggesting pricing restructure
• To assist with marketing communications including prospectus where requested/required.
• To provide support to internal and external activities as requested.
• To work closely with other departments ie finance and HR maintaining effective communication
• To support senior leaders in communications with parents and other stakeholders.
• To undertake reception duties where required including switchboard, post and visitors to site.
• To provide administrative support including photocopying, filing, databases, spreadsheets etc…
• To participate in performance management arrangements and undertake training and development activities as relevant to the job’s duties.
• To maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of school-related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential or sensitive information.
There may be further opportunities to support with the website and social media and within the finance team in support of development of skills.
General Responsibilities:

Qualifications/ Person Specification:
• Qualifications: Essential English GCSE level 4 or above and desirable quality Maths and English at GCSE Level 4 or above.
• Skills and Knowledge: Essential Sound oral and written communication skills. Ability to establish positive working relationships. Ability to use ICT effectively. Desirable quality in MS office. Google suite. Demonstrate effective teamworking ability. Experience of monitoring and recording individual progress
• Experience: Understanding of the principals of safeguarding and child protection. Awareness of health and safety. A commitment to personal development. Desirable work experience.
• Personal qualities: Professional. Adaptable. A ‘can do’ flexible attitude and sense of humour. Ability to use initiative. A commitment to promoting and safeguarding
the welfare of students. A willingness to support the ethos, vision, values and aims of St Catherine’s. Desirable qualities Good reflective practice.
• Physical Requirements / Other: Must be able to meet the demands of the role.
Apprenticeship Standard:
- Level 3 Business Administration Apprentice
- 18 – 24-month Apprenticeship.
- Functional Skills in Maths and English if required and if not previously achieved GCSE grade 4 or C or above.
- There is a requirement to complete off the job training of 6 hours per week during working hours, time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role will also be counted.
Working Week
- 35 hours per week (08:30-16:00)
Wage:
· Salary is dependent upon age of apprentice.
Additional information below:
The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £6.40 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
