Here at The Isle of Wight College we work with a number of employers, in a vast array of industries. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as a Business Administrator Apprentice at Red Squirrel Property Shop Ltd.

This is a unique opportunity to join a thriving and award-winning business working in the Lettings and Sales department at their office in Newport, Isle of Wight.

 

At Red Squirrel Property Shop we handle property sales, lettings and maintenance. We take pride in what we do and want it to be done to the best standard possible.

 

We are a family run business with over 180 years’ combined experience both locally and on the mainland. We are a devoted team who dedicate our time to supply the best service possible, therefore we believe that a friendly and supportive approach and attitude is extremely important to all our customers.

 

Owing to previous apprentice success, Red Squirrel are now looking to appoint an enthusiastic apprentice to join their friendly team.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities to include:

 

·        Dealing with general customer enquiries for both sales and lettings.

·        Office paperwork.

·        Lettings Administration.

·        Canvassing at times.

·        Dealing with applicants enquires.

·        Booking and arranging appointments.

·        Dealing with Maintenance issues.

·        Any other administrative needs as required by the business.

 

Essential Qualities and Skills:

·        Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence is essential. Alternatively, if you currently do not hold one, you will have your driving test either booked in or be planning to book this in to be considered for the role.

·        Working as part of a team.

·        Good time keeping and communication skills.

·        Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

·        IT Skills.

·        Organisational skills.

·        Attention to detail.

Apprenticeship Standard:

·    Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard.

·    Functional Skills in Maths and English if required and if not previously achieved GCSE grade 4/C or above. *Assessed on a case-by-case basis. *

·    There is a requirement to complete 20% off the job training, which equates to 6 hours per week. This includes time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role.

·    Attendance at The Isle of Wight College as required for classroom learning.

Working Week:

·        40 hours per week.

·         Saturday work will be required (3 out of 4 Saturdays to be worked in a month, approximately.)

Wage:

·        £6.40 per hour + commission. Hourly rate negotiable dependent on the successful candidate’s skills.

 

Additional Information below:

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £6.40 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Once qualified and dependant on needs of the business at the time of apprenticeship completion, there may be the potential for a permanent position.
