Additional Information

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency's Points-based Immigration System. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.

Purpose of the Role:

All support staff are part of a whole school team.  They will be an ambassador for the school and embody the value, vision and ethos of the school in all interactions. This will mean focussing on the needs of pupils, colleagues and parents/carers and being flexible in a busy pressurised environment. 

To support the administrative, financial and organisational processes within the school and to act as the initial point of contact for parents/carers, visitors and other stakeholders.

The Apprenticeship will teach you how to:

  1. Support the school through carrying out receptionist duties by:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for parents/carers and visitors arriving at the school;

  • Dealing with telephone and face-to-face enquiries efficiently and in a professional and supportive manner;

  • Seeking support from other colleagues where necessary to respond to complex enquiries;

  • Responding to messages promptly and accurately, passing on information to relevant staff members as necessary;

  • Assisting staff and pupils with the information and support they need. 

2.   Prioritising safeguarding practices by:

  • Controlling access to the school in line with the school’s safeguarding procedures, including signing in visitors, checking identification as necessary, issuing passes and notifying them of safeguarding and safety procedures

  • Being alert to unknown individuals on the school premises and report any concerns in line with the school’s procedures;  

  • Contributing to the safety of children protecting them from harm;

3.   Writing and send email responses that are professional and uphold the school’s vision and values;

4.   Carrying out financial administration in line with the school’s procedures;

5.   Keeping records in accordance with the school’s record retention schedule and data protection law, ensuring information security and confidentiality at all times;

6.   Monitoring the late arrival of pupils and contact parents/carers to identify reasons for non-attendance, ensuring all safeguarding procedures are followed;

7.   Being responsible for the promotion of the wellbeing and safeguarding of pupils, including provision of personal care and medical intervention as required;

8.   Reading and following the relevant school policies;

9.   Undertaking training required to develop in the role;

10. Ensuring all duties and responsibilities are undertaken in line with the school’s health and safety policy.
