The Isle of Wight Local Authority is seeking a meticulous and proactive Early Years Finance Assistant to join our team.

This role is essential in ensuring the accurate and timely distribution of early years finance to providers across the Island. You will play a key part in managing the headcount process and supporting providers with funding-related queries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process headcount data submitted by early years providers to calculate funding allocations.
  • Maintain and update funding records and databases with precision.
  • Communicate effectively with providers to resolve discrepancies or answer funding-related questions.
  • Assist in preparing reports and documentation related to funding distribution.
  • Ensure compliance with funding regulations and local authority policies.
  • Provide guidance to providers on completing funding applications and headcount forms.

About You:

We are looking for a candidate with a keen eye for detail, excellent organisational skills, and a passion for supporting early years education.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in administration, data processing, or a similar roll.
  • Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the early years sector or funding processes is desirable but not essential.
