We are seeking a Credit Controller to join our Estate Accounts Team within the Estate and Facilities Department.
Based in our offices in Newport, Isle of Wight, this role is office based, working 39 hours a week, five days a week, Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm and Friday 8am – 1pm.

Role Summary:
The Credit Controller is responsible for managing debts across our portfolio of management companies. This role involves overseeing all debts owed to management companies from existing creditors and managing new requests for credit. The Credit Controller Associate ensures that credit given to residents is monitored and controlled effectively to minimize the risk of bad debt.
Key Responsibilities:
- Debt Collection:
- Proactively contact customers via phone, email, and letters to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.
- Negotiate payment plans and terms with customers where necessary.
- Follow arrears procedure as already outlined in company process.
- Credit Management:
- Set up terms and conditions of payment plan customers.
- Monitor debtor balances to ensure a reduction in debt levels.
- Account Reconciliation:
- Reconcile client accounts and resolve any discrepancies or disputes.
- Process and allocate incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Reporting:
- Prepare regular reports on the status of accounts receivable and overdue accounts.
- Provide detailed analysis on aged debt and other relevant metrics to management.
- Report to Head of Estates Services, and Management Company boards on debt status.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Ensure that all credit control activities adhere to relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Customer Service:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to facilitate smooth credit control processes.
- Address and resolve customer queries and complaints efficiently.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience:
- Ideally, minimum of 1-2 years of experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or a similar, though full training will be provided for the right person.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with an accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks).
- Ideally, knowledge of using a CRM system.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills – managing arrears process and diarising own time.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work.
