Overview

Our client is a vibrant, successful and popular Restaurant Group based on the Isle of Wight who are looking for a Part Time Bookkeeper/ Finance Assistant on an initial 6-month fixed term contract. 2 Days a week.

In this pivotal role, you will work closely with the Head of Finance during their busy season working on administrative tasks whilst utilizing Xero software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple restaurant sites using Xero.
  • Record daily financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
  • Process accounts payable invoices & cash & card expenses into the system, assisting with supplier reconciliations, ensuring timely payments to suppliers.
  • Reconcile bank statements, invoices, and receipts to ensure all transactions are accounted for and accurate.
  • Assisting in the posting of month end journals, Depreciation, stock movements (generated from the external system).
  • The accurate counting & recording of End of Day cash, tips etc.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations & financial reports.
  • Using our scheduling software to check & export data to assist with weekly & monthly payroll preparation. (Payroll calculations themselves are outsourced).
  • Assisting with New staff joiner paperwork, system setup & ID verification checks.
  • Perform general finance administration, including ad hoc requirements to support finance, payroll & HR as required. We are a small team so help out wherever necessary.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, HR or finance assistant, ideally within the hospitality or restaurant sector.
  • Proficiency in Xero accounting software is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and other office software.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks.
  • A level of understanding & knowledge of accounting principles and practices is desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications in accounting, finance, or business are desirable but not essential.
