Located on the Isle of Wight to serve our immediate area and the southern counties, we seek an Accounts Clerk to join our Estate Accounts Team within the Estate and Facilities Team.

Based in Newport, this role is office based, offered as a part-time position, 20-30 hours per week.

Role Summary:

The Accounts Clerk is responsible for managing debts of various management companies. This role involves overseeing all debts owed to management companies from existing creditors and managing new requests for credit. The Accounts Clerk ensures that credit given to residents is monitored and controlled effectively to minimize the risk of bad debt. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Debt Collection: 

  • Proactively contact customers via phone, email, and letters to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices. 
  • Negotiate payment plans and terms with customers where necessary. 
  • Follow arrears procedure as already outlined in company process.  
  • Monitor debtor balances to ensure a reduction in debt levels. 
  • Prepare regular reports on debt position.
  • Ensure all scopes of work fall in line with company standards. 

Account Reconciliation: 

  • Reconcile client accounts and resolve any discrepancies or disputes. 
  • Process and allocate incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures. 

Customer Service: 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers. 
  • Address and resolve customer queries and complaints efficiently. 
  • Any other duties that fall within the scope of the pay grade. 

Qualifications and Skills: 

 

  • Experience: 
  • Ideally, minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a financial setting, though full training will be provided for the right person.  
  • Technical Skills:  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with an accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks). 
  • Ideally, knowledge of using a CRM system 
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.  
  • Soft Skills:  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. 
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
