To be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, commercial performance, and operational excellence of the Clubhouse. The role’s primary focus is to maximise revenue generation from member events, food and beverage operations, private hire, and third-party functions, while delivering a high-quality experience for members.
Some out-of-hours work in support of committee meetings and events is required. Occasional attendance at events away from the Club may also be required.
Main duties
- Manage the team at the Cowes Clubhouse & the overall delivery.
- Develop and deliver strategies to grow revenue from member events, private hire, and food & beverage.
- Proactively generate third-party business (corporate events, private celebrations, partnerships) through active sales and relationship management.
- Membership Engagement and Retention.
- Maximise profitability through effective pricing, cost control, labour management, and stock control.
- Compliance and Risk Management.
- Facilities and Asset Management.
Core areas of responsibility
- Commercial & Revenue Development (Core Focus)
- Deliver the annual Clubhouse revenue plan, with clear targets for member events, private hire, corporate functions, and F&B income.
- Proactively grow third-party event bookings (corporate, private celebrations, partnerships) through targeted sales activity and relationship building.
- Curate with the committee a compelling calendar of member events designed to increase engagement, attendance, and spend per head.
- Introduce event packages (premium dining, themed evenings, regatta hospitality, networking events).
- Monitor event profitability and implement pricing strategies to maximise margins.
Staff Management & Leadership
- Assist the department leads to recruit, train, and manage a team across all club departments, including F&B, kitchen, housekeeping, events, and administration.
- Develop a positive and motivated team culture, providing leadership and support.
- Ensure staff deliver a high standard of service and maintain professionalism.
Financial & Budgetary Management
- With the RTYC CEO & Head of Finance, manage the club’s financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Oversee revenue streams such as membership fees, events, and food & beverage sales.
- Identify opportunities to increase profitability while maintaining service quality.
Membership Engagement & Retention
- Act as the main point of contact for members, addressing concerns and building strong relationships
- Implement initiatives to enhance member experience and engagement.
- Oversee membership recruitment, retention strategies, and new member onboarding.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure the club complies with all health & safety, licensing, and employment regulations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and maintain proper insurance coverage.
- Uphold GDPR and data protection policies regarding member information.
Facilities & Asset Management
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of club facilities, ensuring they remain in excellent condition.
- Work with external contractors for repairs, refurbishments, and improvements.
- Ensure the club is a welcoming and well-maintained environment for members.
